Australian Cattle Dogs
Devoted, Loyal, strong willed, stubborn, tough, and Wonderful!
Our Australian Cattle Dogs range in size from 35#-50# and are 16-19". We have both Red and Blue, we usually don't breed two reds together. Our adults have been BAER tested all are normal,OFA Hearts/Patella's/ Bites and CERF's Clear. Our males have their Hip/Elbow OFAs certificates too. We have shown them in different Conformation venues, Agility fun shows and our dogs are worked here on the cattle farm. You have probably read the other breed pages on our site about why we have the other breeds so why do we raise the Australian Cattle Dog? We grew up in Oregon-Range Cattle country. If you drove on to a ranch/farm/home where a Cattle Dog (aka: Heeler ) lived~ you'd best NOT get out of the truck unless you were needing to loose some blood! These dogs were NEVER friendly- tough, hard working, loyal, demanding respect you bet!
Friendly NOT a chance!
I worked in four Vet offices in two states over 10 years and only met ONE friendly ACD and he was imported from Australia!
I admired the mind power, strength and stamina of the breed but hated the BITE! When we moved to the mid west and purchased our Missouri Farm the kids wanted another puppy. We were buying a roping horse in AR, they had a litter of ACD and the parents WERE FRIENDLY not to mention breed standard correct. We brought home a puppy! "ZIPPER" the Happiest Heeler around (not to mention a serious working dog)
We were then very pleased to find a male with the same personality "ZAP". So we were on our way to having ~ Social AND strong working lines of dogs. A Big Plus for the breed. Then in 2010 another Australian Cattle Dog family called and ask if we could/would adopt their family of ACD's (due to a divorce). We expanded! This is when our Ranger, and a couple of wonderful girls came to join us. We have been VERY fortunate to have all of our ACD's be Happy/Friendly and Loyal-don't get me wrong they aren't the breed for everyone but if the strong willed yet lovable and loyal is on your list~ give us a call.
